Celebrating Windrush Day with BBC - Black Firsts
2023 sees the 75th anniversary of the HMT Empire Windrush arriving in Britain. Supported by the likes of Tescos, England & Wales Cricket Board and TFL - Windrush Day is a commemoration in the United Kingdom held on 22 June to honour the contributions of migrants to the post-war economy. Specifically, it celebrates Afro-Caribbeans who began arriving on the HMT Empire Windrush in 1948.
