Sinclair London Joins the Covid-19 Fight

19th  May  2020Sinclair London joins luxury brands such as LVHM, Burberry and Armani to make face masks.

London, UK: Relocating the work from our micro factory in London to the homes of our team, we join the Fight against Covid-19. Following in the footsteps of other Savile Row tailors and luxury brands such as  Brioni, Huntsman, Burberry and Giorgio Armani, we are working to aid the public in the battle against the coronavirus as the nation prepares to lift lockdown measures.

In an Instagram post this week the designer of Sinclair London, Alicya said:

“We are no good to anyone if we don’t have our health. We are blessed that none of our immediate relatives have passed away however, we have indeed had a few family friends who have sadly lost their lives to Covid-19. As a business owner I want to ensure that we can do what we can by pulling my resources that I have to help the community stay safe!”

Women's Aid and Sinclair London

We are so honoured to be supporting the Women's Aid Organisation. For every face mask bought, we will be donating 20% of the profits to Women's Aid. There are so many women and children at risk of being victims of domestic violence, and as cities have gone into lockdown across the world to stop the spread of coronavirus, incidents of domestic violence have reportedly increased. The Guardian Online stated that the UK’s largest domestic abuse charity, Refuge, has reported a 700% increase in calls to its helpline in a single day. While a separate helpline for perpetrators of domestic abuse seeking help to change their behaviour received 25% more calls after the start of the Covid-19 lockdown. This is a major issue and we need to work together against domestic abuse until women and children are safe.

We would like to thank the Official Fundraising Partnership Team at Women’s Aid for making this collaboration possible.

Other brands who have joined the fight include British retailer Burberry, who announced on Instagram last month that the company’s global supply chain network is being used to deliver 100,000 surgical masks to the United Kingdom’s National Health Service. Savile Row tailors Huntsman announced their new “Working From Home Elegance” range with blue and white stripe face masks available to the public. The American company, Brooks Brothers followed suit, stating that their New York, North Carolina and Massachusetts factories will pivot from making from ties, shirts and suits to manufacturing masks and gowns.

Top luxury fashion leaders such as Kering and LVHM have pulled out all the stops to support the nation during this time. The luxury conglomerate LVMH, which owns several fashion houses including Louis Vuitton Christian Dior and Givenchy, announced on March 21 their plans to provide more than 40 million masks by using its global redistribution network.

The Kering Group who is another top luxury conglomerate which owns the fashion houses such as Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Brioni to name a few, announced on March 24 plans to manufacture masks.

Our Sinclair masks are made out of the Jubilee cottons and cotton mixes supplied by leading British cloth suppliers such as Acorn Fabrics and Croftmill. Explore the colour range through our online store.
